Improving the way your business works.

Practical improvements for businesses working with paper, spreadsheets or established systems.

Let’s talk about your business →

Technology comes after we’ve understood the problem.

Every business has its own way of doing things. Some processes have evolved over years. Others were designed when the business was much smaller.

As businesses grow, those ways of working don't always keep up. We help organisations understand how their work gets done, identify unnecessary complexity and introduce improvements that make a real difference.

That might involve simplifying existing processes, recommending new software, connecting systems or building tailored automation. Our approach is based on understanding the business first.

Examples of what we help with

Reducing manual administration and duplicate work. Improving quoting, approvals and invoicing processes. Choosing and implementing customer management systems. Connecting existing business applications. Automating reporting, reminders and routine tasks. Building websites and tailored business software. Documenting important processes so knowledge isn’t held by just one person.

Independent advice

We're not tied to a particular software provider. If your existing systems can do the job, we'll look at making better use of them. If something new would help, we'll explain the options and why we recommend them. And if the simplest solution doesn't involve buying any software at all, we'll tell you that too.

Better ways of working, whatever your starting point.

You don't need to know what software you want or even whether technology is the answer. That's part of what we're here to help you work out.

Business process improvement

We look at how work moves through your business, identify unnecessary steps and find ways to make things simpler, quicker and more reliable.

Software advice and implementation

Whether you're working with paper records, spreadsheets or existing software, we can help you choose and introduce systems that suit your business, with installation and training. From customer management and accounting to job tracking and more specialised requirements.

Automation and integration

We connect systems, reduce repetitive work and automate processes where it makes sense. That could be anything from capturing customer information automatically to managing complicated approvals and business operations.

Websites and custom solutions

We build practical websites and business systems designed around what you actually need. Whether that's a straightforward website or something more specialised, we'll help you find the right approach.

Worked examples

What could a better process look like?

These are illustrations, not client results. Every volume and time below is an assumption to show the calculation, not a forecast for your business.

Less chasing after an enquiry

Before: Enquiries arrive by email and a website form. Someone copies the details into a customer system, sends an acknowledgement and remembers to follow up.

After: The details arrive in one place, an acknowledgement goes out and the right person gets a follow-up reminder.

What it involves: Connecting the enquiry channels to the existing customer system, agreeing who handles each enquiry, and testing acknowledgements, reminders and alerts when something fails.

Illustrative calculation

  1. Assume 120 enquiries a month, taking 8 minutes each to administer today.
  2. If administration takes 3 minutes afterwards, that frees 5 minutes per enquiry.
  3. 120 enquiries × 5 minutes = 600 minutes. 600 minutes ÷ 60 = 10 hours a month.

From invoice PDFs to draft bills

Before: Someone opens emailed invoice PDFs and retypes the supplier, dates and amounts into Xero.

After: Key fields are extracted, checked for duplicates and amount errors, and used to create draft bills in Xero. A person checks each draft and approves it before anything is paid.

What it involves: Connecting the invoice inbox and Xero, testing extraction on representative documents, and sending uncertain or inconsistent details to a person to resolve. Approval stays with your team.

Illustrative calculation

  1. Assume 80 invoices a month, taking 10 minutes each to enter and check today.
  2. If checking a prepared draft takes 4 minutes, that frees 6 minutes per invoice. Human checking is still included.
  3. 80 invoices × 6 minutes = 480 minutes. 480 minutes ÷ 60 = 8 hours a month.

A clearer start for new customers

Before: Someone emails documents, copies customer details, assigns tasks and chases missing information by hand.

After: An agreed checklist sends the right documents, assigns tasks and reminds people what is outstanding. A person handles exceptions and approves the next step.

What it involves: Agreeing the checklist, document templates, responsibilities and approval points, then connecting the existing systems and testing reminders.

Illustrative calculation

  1. Assume 20 new customers a month, taking 25 minutes each to coordinate today.
  2. If coordination takes 10 minutes afterwards, that frees 15 minutes per customer, with approvals still included.
  3. 20 new customers × 15 minutes = 300 minutes. 300 minutes ÷ 60 = 5 hours a month.

Time freed is capacity, not guaranteed cash savings. It could give your team more room for customers or other work. These illustrations do not guarantee returns or extra sales. Actual volumes, exceptions, checking and running costs change the result; we would measure your process before recommending a project.

These are process illustrations, not packaged offers or quotations. See our prices and how costs are agreed.

Real client stories

We’ll share real case studies here when a client has given written permission. The worked examples above are illustrations, not client stories.

Straightforward from the start.

First, we talk.

A free 30-minute conversation with Michael about how your business operates, what's working well and what could be better. There’s no sales pitch, no technical jargon and no pressure to buy anything.

Within one working day, Michael sends his recommendation in writing. It might be a quotation, an optional Business Review or better use of software you already have. If you don't need our services, we'll tell you.

Then, we look at the options.

Sometimes the answer is straightforward. Other situations need a closer look. We'll recommend an approach based on what your business actually needs. The Business Review isn't required for every project.

We agree on the work.

You'll know what we're recommending, why we're recommending it and what it will cost before anything begins. Deliverables, VAT, payment stages, dates, your time, hosting, software subscriptions and any usage fees are agreed in writing before you commit. Scope changes get a separate quotation and your approval first.

We put it into practice.

Whether we're improving an existing process, introducing software or building something new, we'll make sure it's properly tested on your work and explain how everything works. The solution and documentation are yours to keep, with 30 days of fixes if it doesn't work as agreed.

Clear prices. No surprises.

Business Review · £1,250 + VAT

Our optional Business Review is a fixed £1,250 + VAT, paid on booking. We take a high-level look at how your business operates, the systems you use and where unnecessary work or delays might exist. We identify the most worthwhile opportunities, examine the highest-priority area more closely and provide written recommendations.

The review includes one day on site with the owner, the rest by video, and about an hour with each of up to 5 key people. You receive the written report within 10 working days of the kickoff call, followed by a 45-minute walkthrough.

You’ll come away with a clearer understanding of what could be improved, the potential benefits and what it might cost to put those improvements in place. You own the report. There is no obligation to go ahead with a build.

If you accept the build proposal within 30 days of receiving your review report, the full £1,250 comes off its price, shown as a line on the proposal.

We agree the scope, output and time frame before you book. The review does not include building or changing systems, or documenting the business in full.

Builds · from £3,500 + VAT

Fixed-price builds, quoted after scoping. We agree the deliverables, exclusions and payment stages in writing before work begins. A website or a small piece of work can cost less; not every job needs a £3,500 build.

You can choose a direct quotation when the work is clear. There is no compulsory review or monthly retainer.

Websites · £1,000 + VAT

A standalone website of up to 5 pages is a fixed £1,000 + VAT, including an enquiry form. You supply the words and we tidy them up. It is hosted in your own name, so you own it. No Business Review needed first. Pay 50% when the proposal is accepted and 50% when it is finished. The site goes live once the second payment is made. It can be connected to a build later, quoted separately.

Not included: online shops, big redesigns, SEO or ad campaigns, or writing all the copy from scratch. Hosting and domain costs are yours and stated up front.

Running costs · agreed up front

Software subscriptions, provider licence and usage fees (including any AI usage), hosting and domains are separate from our project fee unless the proposal explicitly includes them. These accounts are in your name. We'll explain the costs and get your approval before you commit. Optional care is separate too.

Optional ongoing support

£300 + VAT a month — entirely optional. A project should work when we hand it over. We’ll test what we’ve built, explain how it works, and tell you about any third-party costs before work begins. You don’t need to sign up for a monthly support plan to use the solution we’ve delivered.

For the systems we agree to support, we keep what we built running, including when a connected tool changes. You get a one-page monthly report of what ran, time saved where measurable and anything fixed; we reply within 1 working day, make small agreed changes up to 2 hours a month, and hold a 30-minute quarterly review.

You get 30 days of free fixes after handover. If anything we built doesn’t work as agreed during those 30 days, we’ll fix it free. New requests aren’t covered. You’re not paying a retainer for us to correct our own mistakes.

New features and larger changes are quoted separately and approved first. Provider subscriptions, licence or usage fees, hosting and other third-party charges are excluded unless agreed otherwise in writing. We put the exact systems, allowance, response times and exclusions in writing before you choose the plan. Cancel with 30 days' notice; everything stays yours if you cancel.

Let's make your business easier to run.

Whether you've got a particular problem to solve or you're wondering whether there's a better way of doing things, we'd be happy to have a conversation. You don't need to know the technical answer.
